Abstract
Mulitidrug and toxic compound extrusion (MATE) family transporters export xenobiotics to maintain cellular homeostasis. The human MATE transporters mediate the excretion of xenobiotics and cationic clinical drugs, whereas some plant MATE transporters are responsible for aluminum tolerance and secondary metabolite transport.
