Abstract
Megakaryocytes differentiate from hematopoietic stem cells in the bone marrow. The transition of megakaryocytes to platelets is a complex process. Thereby, megakaryocytes extend proplatelets into sinusoidal blood vessels, where the proplatelets undergo fission to release platelets.
