Abstract
Parameres, or lateral lobes, of the male copulatory organ are present in many insect groups, while in others they are reduced or completely lacking. Nearly all long-horned beetles have parameres, while only the leaf beetle sub- taxa Megalopodinae, Zeugophorinae, Orsodacninae, Bruchidae, Sagrinae, Donaciinae and the genus Timarcha possess them.
