A new large-sized genus of Babinskaiidae (Neuroptera: Myrmeleontoidea: Nymphidoidae) from mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber

A new genus and species Gigantobabinskaia godunkoi gen. et sp. nov. (Neuroptera: Babinskaiidae) is described from mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber. With wing lengths of about 21 mm, this is by far the largest of all known members of the family. Within Babinskaiidae, the new species shows closer affinities to the monotypic genus Electrobabinskaia.
