In response to Golinkoff, Hoff, Rowe, Tamis‐LeMonda, and Hirsh‐Pasek's (2018) commentary, we clarify our goals, outline points of agreement and disagreement between our respective positions, and address the inadvertently harmful consequences of the word gap claim.
