Abstract
Eicosanoids play important roles in modulating inflammation throughout the body. The gastrointestinal (GI) tract, in part because of its intimate relationship with the gut microbiota, is in a constant state of low‐grade inflammation. Eicosanoids like PGs, lipoxins and leukotrienes play essential roles in maintenance of mucosal integrity.
