Abstract
Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva is a rare genetic disorder characterized by progressive heterotopic ossification. FOP patients develop soft tissue lumps as a result of inflammation-induced flare-ups which leads to the irreversible replacement of skeletal muscle tissue with bone tissue.
