A New Gigantic Species ofEoptychopterina(Diptera: Eoptychopteridae) from Jurassic of Northeastern China
Abstract
A new species of the extinct genus Eoptychopterina is described E. gigantea, sp. nov. It is another new find of the extinct family Eoptychopteridae from China. The geological age of non-marine sedimentary rocks bearing the fossil flies are briefly reviewed. It might be Oxfordian or Kimmeridgian rather than Early Cretaceous or early Middle Jurassic.
