The phyletic relationships of extant and fossil Pitheciinae (Platyrrhini, Anthropoidea)

A phylogenetic assessment of Pitheciinae (sensuHershkovitz, 1977) is undertaken. Among the three living genera of pitheciines,Chiropotes andCacajao share a more recent common ancestor than either does withPithecia.
