Abstract
The in situ formation of I-phase improves the corrosion resistance of the duplex structured Mg–6% Li alloy. Corrosion attack on the surfaces of Mg–6% Li alloy is very inhomogeneous and severe pits and filiform corrosion clearly occur on the surfaces after immersion in 0.1 M NaCl solution.
