Abstract
An almost complete and remarkably conserved skeleton of a medium-size dinosaur discovered in Las Hoyas, Spain, has implications for the debate on the role and origins of feather-like structures. This new carcharodontosaur had pennaceous 'feathers' on the ulna, making it the most basal theropod known with this feature, thus increasing the spread of possibilities for explaining the origin of feathers in this dinosaur subgroup.
