Synkinematic granitoids are the predominant component of the Svecokarelian crust. Their zircon UPb ages vary from 1900 to 1860 Ma (mainly 1890-1870 Ma), being roughly similar to those of mafic plutonic rocks and metavolcanic rocks. Synkinematic granitoids occur as distinct plutons in schist belts, and also form the granitold complex of central Finland with a total area in excess of 35 000 km2.
