Abstract
A new species of oribatid mites, Lopholiodes tolstikovi n. sp., is described from soil litter of the Atlantic forest of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This species differs from all the representatives of the genus by relatively long setae h 1 and h 2, and the antero-lateral orientation of h 2.
