: Hurricane Harvey hit the Gulf Coast in August 2017, dumping over 60 inches of rain in just a few short days. Nearly a quarter of households were damaged or lost during this time, and services were impacted for weeks. This article discusses one school of nursing's response to this natural disaster. With natural disasters increasing in number, it is hoped that this article will help schools of nursing plan for such an event.

: The purpose of this study is to identify the most supportive and restrictive factors contributing to students' ability to persist through nursing program course completion as perceived by 59 nontraditional students enrolled in a nursing associate degree program. Contemporary education demands that teachers learn to provide excellent education in online learning environments. A student-centered, rich, and active learning environment can and must occur in the online learning arena. Applying Socratic questioning to online teaching and learning leads to rich dialogue and enhances learning. This article focuses on how online instructors can apply Socratic questioning in their online discussions, geared to the readiness of students.

Problem-solving and critical thinking are essential in nursing; therefore, nurse educators must equip students with these skills. Through a campus-wide initiative to foster problem-solving skills (Quality Enhancement Plan), five school of nursing faculty implemented new pedagogical approaches in face-to-face and online courses.
