: Trauma-induced coagulopathy (TIC) occurs commonly as a second event following severe injury. We evaluated the effects of fibrinogen, recombinant factor VIIa and factor XIII on blood clotting and fibrinolysis in an in-vitro TIC model. The TIC model included hemodilution, hyperfibrinolysis, acidosis and hypothermia. The extent of clot formation and fibrinolysis was evaluated using rotational thromboelastometry. Clot strength was increased following spiking the TIC blood with either 1.0 mg/ml fib...

: The aim of the study was to describe the deinduction process and clinically relevant cases reported in the medical literature. Performed PubMed database search for key words 'enzymatic deinduction'. Findings are summarized. Although many unwanted drug interactions occur from the additive effects of combined medications or through competition at binding sites, some interactions occur because of alterations in homeostasis of natural metabolizing pathways. Enzymatic induction is a natural process...

: Antibeta-2-glycoprotein 1 (antibeta2GP1) antibodies are associated with increased risk of thrombosis in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The specific effect(s) of antibeta2GP1 antibodies on platelets are unclear. Platelet activation in response to antiplatelet antibodies has been shown to induce shedding of the ectodomain of the platelet collagen receptor, glycoprotein VI (GPVI), releasing soluble GPVI (sGPVI). The aim of this study was to therefore determine whether antibeta2...

: We herein report the case of a young patient who presented with premature thromboembolic venous disease secondary to combined heterozygous G20210A prothrombin mutation, dual homozygosity for Factor V Leiden, and severe protein S deficiency. This association has never been reported to date and is likely to be exceptional, even in populations wherein these thrombophilia traits are more common. Long-term antithrombotic prophylaxis with rivaroxaban has proven successful in preventing clinical recu...

: To evaluate cases with Alport syndrome for laboratory, radiological, ophthalmological, auditory tests, cardiological and inherited thrombophilia risk. Laboratory findings, abdominal and urinary ultrasonography, ophthalmological and auditory tests and cardiological examination of 21 Alport syndrome suspicious cases were performed. Also, collagen type IV alpha three chain (COL4A3) gene, four chain (COL4A4) gene and five chain (COL4A5) genes were sequenced by next-generation sequencing system. In...
