Background & Aims The I148M variant in PNPLA3 is the major genetic risk factor for non‐alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The liver is enriched with polyunsaturated triglycerides (PUFA‐TGs) in PNPLA3‐I148M carriers.
