Abstract
Inactivation of the von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) tumor suppressor gene and its protein product, pVHL, occurs in ~90% of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) cases. pVHL is part of the ubiquitin ligase complex that targets the HIF2α transcription factor, an oncoprotein in ccRCC, for proteasomal degradation.
