A new genus of labidurid earwigs in mid-Cretaceous amber from northern Myanmar (Dermaptera: Labiduridae)

A new genus and species of Labiduridae, Acantholabis coralloides Mao, Engel, & Ren, gen. and sp. nov., is described from mid-Cretaceous amber of Myanmar based on two females. The new genus is distinctive for its spiny body, large compound eyes, and broadly separated cerci, among other traits. The spiny appearance of Acantholabis is likely for defense against predators.
