Convex probe endobronchial ultrasound (CP-EBUS) and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) are valuable tools in the diagnosis, staging, and treatment of thoracic malignancies. With widespread clinical adoption, novel uses of CP-EBUS beyond mediastinal diagnosis and staging continue to be discovered. SBRT is an attractive treatment strategy in early-stage lung cancer and oligo-metastatic disease of the chest when a surgical approach is either not feasible or desirable. Accurate application of SBR...

Abstract Nowadays we use novel diagnostic equipment for lung cancer. Bronchoscopy was the tip of the arrow for diagnosis, however; ultrasound systems have brought a revolution. We have the radial-endobronchial ultrasound for peripheral lesions and the convex probe endobronchial ultrasound for central lesions. Ultrasound endoscopic systems can be used for the diagnosis of any lesion that can be approached from the airways. In the current manuscript we will present two methods for the biopsy of th...

Abstract Convex endobronchial ultrasound transbronchial needle aspiration (C-EBUS-TBNA) has become an essential modality for diagnosis and staging of hilar, mediastinal, and central pulmonary lesions. A Trans-thoracic pleural biopsy is the accepted practice for diagnosing pleural nodules. However, the diagnostic yield of a pleural biopsy is limited and surgical procedures pose a greater risk. We report a unique case of using a C- EBUS scope for the diagnosis of pleural nodules and mediastinal ly...

Background Patients with central tracheobronchial benign or malignant lesions who have not recieved surgical treatment can be treated by interventional techniques, such as laser, afterloading radiotherapy, cryotherapy, photodynamics treatment, radiofrequency ablation and stenting, etc. The accuracy of the invasive depth of central lesion in tracheobronchial wall plays an important role in making interventional treatment plan. This study used radial probe endobronchial ultrasound (RP-EBUS) scanning to ev...

We report for the first time 2 cases of right paratracheal pericardial recess cysts identified by endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and subsequently aspirated by transbronchial needle aspiration. High riding pericardial cyst is a recently identified radiologic entity, which can mimic a right paratracheal lymph node. EBUS transbronchial needle aspiration is often performed in this site to aspirate tissue for pathologic diagnosis. On ultrasound, cystic structures appear black as do blood vessels. Al...
