Abstract
This paper studies how appointment cancellations affect scheduling strategies in outpatient healthcare clinics. While cancellation rates in outpatient clinics have been reported to be as high as 27%, cancelled appointments are often ignored, or grouped with no-shows in healthcare scheduling models.
