Abstract
ABSTRACT A novel visual detection method was developed for H2O2 and glucose detection via the L-Cysteine (L-Cys) mediated synthesis of quantum dots (QDs). The mechanism of the ligand effect during QDs synthesis was also studied by theoretical calculation. This strategy is based on that L-Cys can be used as both H2O2 substrate and ligand to mediate biomimetic synthesis of luminescent CdTe QDs. Iodide (I-) can catalytic oxidized L-Cys to L-cystine in the presence of H2O2, which inhibits the synthesis of QDs. Hence, the degree of inhibition for the QDs synthesis is proportional to the H2O2 concentration. Additionally, the ligand effect of L-Cys and L-cystine for CdTe QDs synthesis was studied. The density functional theory (DFT) calculations showed that the combination of CdTe QDs with L-Cys had higher energy and more stable configuration than that with L-cystine, indicating that L-Cys is the more stable ligand of QDs. Under the optimized conditions, a low limit of detection (LOD) was obtained for H2O2 (0.3 nM). Then, we used H2O2 as a bridge for glucose detection, with a LOD of 5 nM. The feasibility of this sensor was demonstrated by rapid detection of H2O2 and glucose by naked-eye at a level of 10 nM.

The detection of biomarkers requires not only high sensitivity but also different signal reading methods depending on the actual situation. Herein, the luminescent properties of CdTe quantum dots (QDs) were exploited, where CdTe QDs were used as shared signal molecules. Combining multiple types of nucleic acid and chemical signal amplification techniques, and various signal detection techniques, a magnetic nanoparticle (NP) and filter-assisted separation multimode sensing strategy has been devel...

Due to their simplicity of design and operation, homogeneous bioassays have been of great interest to researchers. Herein, a label-free and free separation fluorescence sensing platform was constructed for the determination of nucleic acid and prostate specific antigen (PSA) using CdTe QDs as the signal molecule. In our previous work, we surprisingly found that the CdTe QDs can selectively distinguish Ag+ and the C–Ag+–C complex, which was the basis of the sensor. On the basis of the selective c...

Abstract An enzyme-activable modulated synthesis of fluorescent CdTe quantum dots (QDs) strategy was developed in this work. Monitoring the in-situ growth of CdTe QDs is shown to be a novel route to label-free and visual detect butyrylcholinesterase (BChE), an important enzyme in human bodies. BChE can catalyze butyrylcholine (BTCh) to produce thiocholine (TCh), which is an excellent thio-ligand during CdTe QDs growths. Therefore, BChE can activate the thio-ligand via enzymolysis thus trigger th...

Abstract Herein, we developed a simple and sensitive method for the detection of protamine and trypsin by using a ratiometric fluorescent probe based on Rox-DNA functionalized CdZnTeS quantum dots (QDs). The Rox-DNA functionalized CdZnTeS QDs were prepared via one-pot method, which was simple, low-cost, and modification-free. Protamine can cause the aggregation of ratiometric fluorescent probe through electrostatic interaction and quench the fluorescence of CdZnTeS QDs. Then, the protamine could...

Simultaneous detection of multiple tumor biomarkers is in great demand for early and accurate cancer diagnosis. A homogeneous electrochemical biosensor has been proven to possess high sensitivity, but achieving simultaneous detection of multiple tumor biomarkers is still a challenge. Herein, we develop a novel homogeneous electrochemical biosensor for simultaneous detection of multiple tumor biomarkers based on the functionalized metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). The functionalized MOFs were prep...

Abstract Herein, tuning polyelectrolyte-graphene interaction was demonstrated to enhance electrocatalytic activity for non-enzymatic hydrogen peroxide detection. The introduction of positively charged poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDDA) onto graphene surface not only prevent the aggregation of graphene sheets through electrostatic repulsion but also create net positive charge on adjacent carbon atoms in the graphene due to the occurrence of the intermolecular charge transfer by virtue ...

Abstract Chemiluminescence (CL) of luminol is a well-established technology for in vitro biochemical analysis of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). However, applications of chemiluminescence as a signal transduction trigger for fluorophore release still remain to be exploited. In this paper, we rationally design a chemiluminescence-triggered fluorophore release approach for imaging of H2O2 in vivo. The o-benzyl alcohol-decorated block poly(carbonate)s copolymer, viz. PMPC−ONA, was synthesized affording t...

Abstract In this work, the low-cost carbon nanorods assembled hierarchical meso-macroporous carbons networks aerogels (CNs-HMCNAs) was environment-friendly synthesized from a cheap and abundant biomass of apples (Malus pumila Mill) for the first time. The biomass of apples derived CNs-HMCNAs exhibited the unique hierarchical meso-macroporous structure with large specific surface area and high density of edge defective sites. At the CNs-HMCNAs modified GCE (CNs-HMCNAs/GCE), the electron transfer ...

Abstract Bimetallic Au-Ag/Co3O4 nanofibers (Au-Ag/Co3O4NFs) were synthesized by an electrospinning method and calcination treatment. Due to the admirable synergic effect of electrocatalytic ability of Au and Ag, and the large surface-to-volume ratio of Co3O4 nanofibers caused by their rough surface, the synthesized Au-Ag/Co3O4NFs were applied to a sensing platform for hydrogen peroxide oxidation. Using electrochemical techniques, the novel sensing platform based on Au-Ag/Co3O4NFs shows a wide li...

Abstract A salamo-like chemical probe HL with novel structure for continuous recognition of Cu2+ and CN− was synthesized by Schiff base reaction. Some meticulous researches on the properties of probe HL had been carried out by UV-Vis spectra and fluorescence spectra, high-resolution mass spectra and nuclear magnetic resonance spectra. The probe HL could identify Cu2+ by dual channels, and the formed copper(II) complex L-Cu2+ could be used as a probe to recognize CN− in the visible region, and co...
