Synthesis, structural peculiarities, theoretical study and biological evaluation of newly designed O-Vanillin based azomethines

Two azomethines: (E)-2-(((2-hydroxyethyl)imino)methyl)-6-methoxyphenol (1) and (E)-3-(((2-hydroxyethyl)imino)methyl)benzene-1,2-diol (2) were synthesized and characterized in solid state by FT-IR spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray crystallography, whereas in solution state by NMR (1H, 13C) and GC-MS.
