Paleo-to Neoarchean granitoid gneisses (ca. 3.30 to 2.49 Ga) are well preserved in the Western Superior Craton. Protoliths of these gneisses are mainly I-type granitoids characterized by high Sr/Y and La/Yb ratios and low Mg#, consistent with Archean tonalite-trondhjemite-granodiorites.
