Abstract
This commentary expands upon the clinical implications arising from the Carpenter et al. (2019) negative reinforcement model of opioid use. A new model called OPIATE-which stands for Optimizing Positive Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen Treatment Expectations-is introduced.
