Steatocystoma multiplex (SM) is a rare autosomal dominant disease characterized by multiple asymptomatic intradermal true sebaceous cysts of variable size. These lesions may occasionally rupture, become inflamed, painful and heal with scarring [SM suppurativa (SMS)], thus sharing overlapping features with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS).
