Abstract
The authors consider cooling process of a “gray cast iron–austenitic stainless steel” bimetallic casting in the lost foam casting conditions. They provide a mathematical model of coupled heat transfer between the molten gray cast iron, stainless steel, nonstick coating and dry quartz sand during the process of bimetallic casting cooling, taking into account phase transitions in gray cast iron and quartz sand.
