Achyranthemum N.G.Bergh, a new genus segregated from Syncarpha DC. (Asteraceae, Gnaphalieae)

The genus Syncarpha from the Cape region of South Africa has been shown to comprise two separate lineages based on phylogenetic analysis of plastid and nuclear DNA sequence data.
