Abstract
An efficient protocol is described for the regioselective construction of polysubstituted functionalized naphthalenes from easily accessible ortho-(alkynyl)styrenes under mild reaction conditions. The reaction proceeds via cycloaromatization and intermolecular coupling of ortho-(alkynyl)styrenes with allylic alcohols catalyzed by PdCl2.
