Abstract
Gloeobacter rhodopsin (GR) is a cyanobacterial proton pump which can be potentially applied to optogenetics. We solved the crystal structure of GR and found that it has overall similarity to the homologous proton pump from Salinibacter ruber , xanthorhodopsin (XR).
