The histidine kinase CbrA of the CbrAB two-component system of Pseudomonas putida is a key element to recognise the activating signal and mediate auto- and trans-phosphorylation of the response element CbrB. CbrA is encoded by the gene cbrA which is located downstream of a putative open reading frame we have named cbrX .
