Pinoresinol from the leaves of Cinnamomum camphora used as a model natural compound was extracted and isolated. The chemical characterization of the compound was confirmed using UV, IR, MS, H NMR and C HMR. Abstract Chiral compounds have shown antimicrobial activity, enantioselectively. Leaf oil composition of Cinnamomum camphora was studied using GC-FID, SPME-GC-FID, enantio-GC and GC/MS techniques. Abstract A new 3-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)-propane-1,2-diol glycoside, named cinnamomdiol A ( 1 ), together with two known compounds, 3-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)-propane-1,2-diol ( 2 ) and taxifolin ( 3 ), was isolated from the roots of Cinnamomum camphora . Their structures were determined on the basis of spectroscopic evidences. Compounds 2 and 3 were isolated from the title plant for the first time.

A new cerebroside (1), along with three known steroidal compounds, β-sitosterol (2), daucosterol (3), and stigmasterol (4), were isolated from the roots of Gynura procumbens (Lour.) Merr. The structure of 1 was determined to be 1-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(2R,6E,9R,12E)2-[(2′R)-2′-hydroxypentacosaneoyl-amino]-6,12-heptadecene-1,9-diol on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic evidence.
