Abstract
Choristodera are freshwater aquatic reptiles known from the Middle Jurassic to the Miocene. Their fossil record shows a peak in diversity in the Early Cretaceous of eastern Asia, most notably in the Jehol Biota of China but also in Japan and Mongolia.
