Abstract
A skull of cave lion, Panthera spelaea (Goldfuss, 1810) was discovered in glacial deposits in north-eastern Russia. It reveals deep traces of canine teeth on its face, associated with suffocation by another lion. This was the real cause of death and one of the manners of modern lions killing.
