Abstract
The Pannonian Basin of Croatia is the largest back-arc extensional basin on the European continent, located between the Alps, Carpathians and Dinarides. Syn-rift subsidence started at ~18 Ma and predated the onset of the Miocene Climate Optimum (MCO; 17–14.7 Ma).
