Measurements of the radiocarbon ( 14 C) and tritium ( 3 H) activity in a 5.8-m-long ice core from the Saarhalle, Dachstein-Mammoth Cave allowed a substantial revision of previous opinions concerning the age of the ice block, and provide useful experience that may be applied to future 14 C dating of cave ice deposits.
