Hepatic glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) are dysregulated in human obesity, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, and diabetes. The multifunctional GST pi-isoform (GSTP) catalyzes the conjugation of glutathione with acrolein and inhibits c-Jun NH 2 -terminal kinase (JNK) activation.
