Regional industrial transformations in the interconnected global economy

This article reviews recent research on regional transformation and observes that though it is increasingly acknowledged that regions depend on external connections, not much systematic analysis has gone to analysing regions as hosts of economic nodes that are differently positioned in global industrial systems.
