Research Summary: We study antecedents of innovation performance for the subsidiaries of multinational enterprises (MNEs) using the microfoundations approach. Based on the upper echelon perspective, we argue that managers’ characteristics, such as prior MNE work experience and industry experience, affect subsidiary innovation.
