Abstract
WOMEN RACE SHORTER DISTANCES THAN MEN IN CERTAIN ENDURANCE SPORTS, INCLUDING EVENTS IN RUNNING, NORDIC SKIING, AND CYCLING. OUTDATED RATIONALES FOR DIFFERENCES IN RACE STANDARDS BETWEEN MEN AND WOMEN ARE NOT BASED ON CURRENT KNOWLEDGE OF THE FEMALE ENDURANCE ATHLETE'S PHYSIOLOGY.
