Background and Aims: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a spectrum of disorders characterised by hepatic steatosis, which may be benign (NAFL) or which may progress via inflammation and fibrosis to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and then to cirrhosis and liver failure.
