This paper presents the results of U–Pb dating of detrital zircons from six metasedimentary rocks in the Taowan and Kuanping groups in the northern margin of the North Qinling Orogenic Belt (NQB), Central China, for constraining the tectonic affinity of the NQB, the existence time and tectonic features of the Kuanping Ocean and the accurate northern boundary of the NQB.
