Abstract
Purpose: Excessive dietary salt intakes cause not only hypertension but also cardiovascular diseases including coronary artery disease and stroke. In spite of unfavorable effects of excess salt intakes, most Japanese take in salt higher than the target recommended by most guidelines for the management of hypertension (6.0 g/day).
