Influence of Alpinia galanga Rhizomes on Cafeteria Diet Induced Obesity in Rats
Abstract
The present study was aimed to screen the possible antiobesity effects of ethanol extract of null Alpinia galanga null rhizomes in cafeteria diet fed obese rats. Obesity was induced in albino rats by feeding cafeteria diet daily for 6 weeks in addition to normal diet. The ethanol extract of rhizomes was administered at a daily dose of 500 mg/kg orally for 6 weeks. Body weight and food intake was measured initially and then every week thereafter....
