Abstract
We correct an error in a widely used air mass table by recalculating the values on the basis of the ISO Standard Atmosphere (1972) and revise its approximation formula.

The mostly used table of the relative optical air massm as function of solar altitude γ (or zenith angle ϑ=90°—γ) was computed byBemporad [1, 2, 3] using values of the vertical air density profile up to 10 km height as they were known about the turn of the century, and taking the refractive index of the air at ground leveln0=1.000293; this index refers to light of wavelength 0.54 μ (peak of the visible spectrum) and to air of temperature 0°C and pressure 1013.25 mb.

A well-calibrated simple and economical viable Ȧngstrom–Prescott model has long been accepted to be more accurate than other surface meteorological data-based models. The major limitation is that it is site dependent. This study exploited the appropriateness of a more generalized Ȧngstrom-based broadband hybrid model in the estimation of solar radiation at seven stations in equatorial region of West Africa. This model features parametric equations that explicitly and accurately account for clear...

Abstract Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) based on double layered photo-anode geometry incorporating transmitting and absorbing layers of titanium dioxide which are activated with a known stable C106 dye have been fabricated. The photovoltaic parameters have been studied both indoors under standard reporting conditions (AM 1.5G at 100 mW/cm2 irradiation) as well as under the actual harsh outdoor conditions in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, one day each month for a full one year period. Outdoor performa...

A simple thermal model is used to simulate the heat load received by an idealized room incorporating climatological factors and daily weather patterns in the Philippine setting. The model provides diurnal temperature variation of the idealized room with varying wall materials situated in Quezon City during the cool-dry and hot-dry seasons in the country. The model was used to calculate the heat load to keep the temperature of the room less than 25 °C. Rooms with walls made of bamboo and oak were...

Daily measurements of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) and other meteorological parameters at 16 stations in China during 2005–2015 were used to develop the all-weather Adaptive-Network-based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) PAR models. The ANFIS models were compared with other semi-empirical and semi-physical methods, and the results showed that ANFIS models using global solar radiation (G) as input parameter provided more accurate estimates than other models. Daily PAR values during 196...

Abstract In photovoltaic (PV) power plant construction, solar resources need to be evaluated using some criteria. Besides considering the classical total amount of solar resources at the considered location, the lengths and distributions of equivalent clear-sky periods have also been taken into account in recent years to consider the stability of both the PV system output power and other connected grids. We present a method of identifying the lengths and distributions of equivalent clear-sky per...

Abstract Clear sky solar irradiance parametric models seek to simplify the atmospheric attenuation with relatively simple parameterizations in order to estimate solar irradiance under clear sky conditions, avoiding the use of computationally expensive radiative transfer models. These models are particularly useful when estimating solar irradiation with satellite retrievals. Due to the great number of clear sky parametric models, it is somehow complicated to decide the choice of model to be selec...

ABSTRACTThis paper focusses on generation of solar irradiation map under clear sky conditions using r.sun model. Direct Irradiation, diffuse irradiation and global irradiation maps are plotted using programme which was developed in C language. This programme calculates different components of solar irradiation using clear sky model (r.sun). Further Surfer software was used to plot different irradiation maps. All three values (Direct Irradiation, Global Irradiation and Diffuse Irradiation) were c...
