Mammalian Masticatory Muscles: Homology, Nomenclature, and Diversification

There is a deep and rich literature of comparative studies of jaw muscles in mammals but no recent analyses employ modern phylogenetic techniques to better understand evolutionary changes that have occurred in these muscles.
