Oxidized LDL (oxLDL) inhibits endothelial cell (EC) migration. Stimulating ECs with vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) leads to the activation of Akt/protein kinase B, which in turn activates endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) by phosphorylation on serine 1177.
