Abstract
In unicellular non-diazotrophic cyanobacteria, NblA is a small polypeptide required for phycobilisome degradation during macronutrient limitation. In the filamentous N2-fixing Tolypothrix sp., a nblA gene (nblAI) lies upstream of the cpeBA operon that encodes phycoerythrin apoproteins.
