Structure refinement and physical properties of the V3Te4 phase
Abstract
The crystal structure of V3Te4 was refined (RF = 0.08) with single crystal data. V3Te4 is monoclinic, space group I2/m (Cr3S4-type), with a = 6.687(1), b = 3.715(3), c = 12.566(1) Å, β = 91.3(2)° and Z = 2. The structure is characterized by quasi two-dimensional metalnets parallel to the (1 0 1) planes, like in V3S4 and V3Se4. Polycrystalline samples showed metallic behaviour.
