Abstract
The leaf essential oil of Callistemon lanceolatus D.C., obtained by hydrodistillation from matured leaves grown at Jorhat, Assam, in the north-eastern region of India, were analysed by GC and GC–MS. A total of 16 compounds were identified and 1,8 cineole (58.3%), α-pinene (21.2%), α-phellandrene (5.8%), limonene (4.1%) and α-terpineol (3.9%) were the major components representing more than 93% of the oil.
