On the relationship between the binding of ribosomal protein S1 to the 30 S subunit of Escherichia coli and 3′ terminus of 16 S RNA

30 S ribosomal subunits in many preparations have two binding sites for S1 (Laughrea & Moore, 1977). These two binding sites can be readily distinguished on the basis of their affinity for S1.
